Jeannie Little - a luminous, unforgettable portrait of a national treasure.

Photographed in 1994 for one of my earliest Who Weekly assignments, this portrait was created in the living room of Jeannie’s Paddington home. She was exactly as audiences knew her - warm, eccentric and endlessly generous with her time and energy.

The image was made in the final moments of the session using a ring flash - a rarity in Australia at the time and something I had only just acquired. It lit Jeannie’s expressive face with a luminous clarity I couldn’t resist. After just three frames the flash blew, ending the shoot in a burst of theatrical timing that felt perfectly in character. Though repaired later, this brief sequence remains a singular moment in my archive.

For collectors - a museum-grade print capturing Jeannie at the height of her cultural presence, radiant, original and unmistakably herself.

This portrait is held in the collection of the National Portrait Gallery of Australia.

Produced from a high-resolution scan of the original 1994 negative, the edition is made to museum standards on archival Hahnemühle fine art paper using pigment inks to ensure exceptional depth, tonal richness and longevity.

Works from The Sellick Archive are held in the collections of the National Portrait Gallery of Australia, the State Library of South Australia, the National Library of Australia and significant private collections in Australia and internationally.
